Smiths Falls vanquishes Nepean in shootout, 3-2 (3-2 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Smiths Falls Bears defeated the Nepean Raiders in a shootout 3-2 (3-2 SO).

The shootout featured 12 attempts between both teams. Nepean got shootout goals from Mitchell Herlihey and Jesse Ferras. Smiths Falls also got shootout goals from Victor Beaulac and Daniele Disipio.

The Bears overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Smiths Falls was down 2-0 after a power play goal by the Raiders' Ferras at 15:32 in the second period. The Bears tied things up at 2-2 on a power play goal by Stefano Momesso at 3:41 in the third period.

Nepean was unable to stop Smiths Falls from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bears eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Smiths Falls also got a goal from Brett Costello as well. In addition, Smiths Falls received assists from Daniel Lombardi, Brandon Lesway, and Neil Doef, who each chipped in one.

Jody Sullivan also scored for Nepean. More assists for Nepean came via Michael Constantine, Brandon Watt, and Herlihey, who contributed one a piece.

Michael Pinios rejected 28 shots on goal for Smiths Falls. The Bears totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play. Smiths Falls ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Costello was ejected from the game. The Raiders' Ryan Mulder stopped 35 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Nepean totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. For the Raiders, Luke Scott was ejected from the game.
