Cornwall holds on for 5-3 win against OttawaEd Lumley Arena Thu, Oct 10, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Cornwall Colts survived a determined comeback attempt by the Ottawa Senators on the way to a 5-3 win. A goal by Chase Pearson put Cornwall up 5-2 in the third period, but Ottawa pulled to within two on Justin Charbonneau's tally 18:34 into the third period. The Colts got the win behind a great game by Marly Quince, who had two goals and one assist. Quince scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 15:28 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cornwall. Cornwall earned a power play opportunity when Chris King was put in the box for boarding. Parker Krol picked up the assist. Quince's next tally on the power play made the score 4-2 Cornwall with 9:14 left in the third period. Pierre Ouellette assisted on the tally. The Colts found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Cornwall has scored at the pace of 2.9 goals per game during the current campaign. Jay DAmour also scored for Cornwall. In addition, Cornwall received assists from Kevin Hope, who had two and Billy Ulrick, Lawson MacDougall, Antonio Roumeliotis, and Kenny Nelson, who contributed one a piece. The Senators were led by Hunter Racine, who finished with one goal and one assist. Racine scored 8:41 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Cornwall. Ottawa also got a goal from Zac Tierney as well. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa were Robert Michel, Mike Martin, and Deric Boudreau, who each chipped in one. Jordan Piccolino rejected 26 shots on goal for the Colts. Cornwall totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. The Colts ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Matthew Cruickshank was ejected from the game. Ottawa's Ian Andriano stopped 23 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Senators totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. For Ottawa, Zachary Rheaume was ejected from the game.
