Kanata holds on for 2-1 win against CumberlandKanata Recreational Complex Tue, Oct 08, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Cumberland Grads tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Kanata Stallions would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1. A goal by Braedan Moffatt put Kanata up 2-0 in the second period, but Cumberland pulled to within one on Maxime St.Pierre's tally 15:57 into the third period. The Stallions' Cole Skinner was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 34 saves and let only one puck past him. Skinner certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.11 entering the contest. Kanata's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Cumberland power plays. The Grads were unable to stop the Stallions from sending pucks towards the net, and Kanata eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. Nic LaBurn also scored for Kanata. More assists for Kanata came via Kris Myllari and Derian Plouffe, who contributed one a piece. Cumberland's offense rang up 35 shots on the Stallions' net. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Jean-Gabriel Lacombe and Matthew Dupont, who each chipped in one. Kanata incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Grads' Reilly Turner stopped 34 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Cumberland incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
