Magnus, Nepean blank Smiths Falls, 3-0Nepean Sportsplex Rink 1 Sun, Sep 29, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Brett Magnus recorded a shutout against the Smiths Falls Bears as the Nepean Raiders picked up a 3-0 win. Nepean's penalty kill excelled, as the Raiders gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays. Nepean stifled Smiths Falls' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Raiders kept the Bears' goalie busy throughout the game, and Michael Pinios made 29 saves on 32 shots. Nepean was helped by Keenan Hodgson, who finished with one goal. Hodgson scored 19:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Nepean. Tanner Williams picked up the assist. Nepean additionally got points from Brandon Watt, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Nepean also got a goal from Felix Page as well. In addition, Nepean received assists from Jesse Ferras, Christopher Smith, and Conner Judson, who contributed one a piece. Smiths Falls' offense operated below it season average. The Bears average 2.5 goals per game. The Raiders were unable to stop Smiths Falls from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bears eventually piled up 50 shots on goal. Magnus recorded 50 saves for Nepean. The Raiders incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Smiths Falls incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
