Kemptville vanquishes Hawkesbury in shootout, 3-2 (2-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Kemptville 73s defeated the Hawkesbury Hawks in a shootout 3-2 (2-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for four attempts between the teams. Kemptville also got a shootout goal from Jesse Blais.

The 73s came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Kemptville trailed 2-0 after a power play goal by Hawkesbury's Zach Car at 15:49 in the second period. The 73s knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Blais at 13:59 in the third period.

The Hawks' power play was ineffective against Kemptville's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The 73s' offense rang up 36 shots on Hawkesbury's net.

Dean Galasso also scored for Kemptville. More assists for Kemptville came via Brandon Seatter, Hayden Hanson, Brandon Cole, and Dylan Giberson, who contributed one a piece.

The Hawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Kemptville power plays. Kemptville was unable to stop Hawkesbury from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hawks eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Hawkesbury was helped by Trent Durocher, who had one goal. Durocher scored short handed 15:04 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hawkesbury. The Hawks were on a disadvantage when Andrew Reis went off the ice for roughing. Other players who recorded assists for Hawkesbury were Curtis Scale and Francois Lemelin, who each chipped in one.

Jacob Lucier made 31 saves for the 73s on 33 shots. Kemptville incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Hawkesbury's Guillaume Therien stopped 33 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Hawks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
