Behind a great game by Chris King, who had two goals, the Ottawa Senators defeated the Gloucester Rangers, 5-2. King scored at 11:11 into the third period to make the score 3-0 Ottawa and again while 17:33 into the third to make the score 4-2 Ottawa.Ottawa pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 20 penalty minutes. Gloucester was unable to stop the Senators from sending pucks towards the net, and Ottawa eventually piled up 50 shots on goal. Ottawa also got points from Michael Evelyn, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Ottawa also got a goal from Ryan Collins as well. More assists for Ottawa came via Deric Boudreau, who had two and Shawn Lynch, Nicholas Ford, Zac Tierney, and Hunter Racine, who contributed one a piece. The Rangers were helped by Maximian Veronneau, who finished with one goal. Veronneau scored 11:38 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Ottawa. Ryan Kuffner picked up the assist. Matt Rosebrook also scored for Gloucester. In addition, Gloucester received assists from Luc Deschamps, who had one. The Senators' Ian Andriano stopped 24 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Ottawa registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Doug Johnston made 45 saves for Gloucester on 49 shots. The Rangers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
