Pembroke downs Smiths Falls in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Pembroke Lumber Kings' Mark Petaccio scored 3:55 into overtime to beat the Smiths Falls Bears, 3-2 (OT).

Although Pembroke was up by as many as two goals in the first period, Smiths Falls kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The Bears got to within 2-1 on a goal by Nic Marchand at 2:36 in the third period.

The Lumber Kings were paced by Petaccio, who grabbed one goal.

Pembroke put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Smiths Falls to score on any of its four power plays.

Pembroke also got a goal from T Beveridge as well. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Darcy Haines, who had two and Lucas Gonu, Ryan Erickson, and Stephan Beauvais, who each chipped in one.

The Bears excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Smiths Falls forced the Lumber Kings goalie Darren Smith to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

Yannick Crete also scored for Smiths Falls. Other players who recorded assists for Smiths Falls were Neil Doef, who had two.

Darren Smith made 37 saves for Pembroke on 39 shots. The Lumber Kings incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Michael Pinios rejected 27 shots on goal for the Bears. Smiths Falls incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
