Nepean survives Kanata comeback, wins 6-4Kanata Recreational Complex Tue, Sep 24, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Kanata Stallions tried their best to erase a five-goal deficit, but the Nepean Raiders would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 6-4. Nepean made the score 6-1 on a goal by Philippe Gadoury at 17:44 in the second period, and Kanata got as close as 6-4 when Hubert Pare-Seguin scored 19:19 into the third period. The Raiders got the win on the strength of a great game by Gadoury, who had two goals and two assists. Gadoury scored the first of his two goals at 7:25 into the second period to make the score 5-1 Nepean. Conner Judson assisted on the tally. Gadoury's next tally made the score Nepean with 2:16 left in the second period. Felix Page picked up the assist. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 10:57 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Jesse Ferras also scored for Nepean. In addition, Nepean received assists from Keenan Hodgson, who had two, Francesco Iannantuono, who had three, and Jody Sullivan, Brandon Watt, and Christopher Smith, who each chipped in one. The Stallions' offense rang up 49 shots on Nepean's net. Kanata was helped by Kasey Kulczycki, who registered one goal. Kulczycki scored 8:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kanata. Ben Fanjoy provided the assist. Kanata additionally got points from Fanjoy, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Kanata also got a goal from Alex Stothart as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kanata were Derian Plouffe, who had two and Kris Myllari, Jeremy Carigan, and Doug Harvey, who contributed one a piece. Brett Magnus rejected 45 shots on goal for the Raiders. Nepean totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. The Raiders ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Judson was ejected from the game. The Stallions' Brayden St-Germain stopped 21 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Kanata totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-7 on the power play. For the Stallions, Braedan Moffatt was ejected from the game.
