Kanata penalty kill dominates in 5-2 defeat of CumberlandNavan Memorial Centre Sun, Sep 22, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Kanata Stallions were able to defeat the Cumberland Grads, 5-2. Kanata was paced by Alex Stothart, who had one goal and one assist. Stothart scored 8:52 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Kanata. Braedan Moffatt provided the assist. Kanata additionally got points from Kasey Kulczycki, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Kanata also had goals scored by Devin Fullum, who had one and Derian Plouffe, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Kanata were Nic LaBurn, Kevin Groulx, Jeremy Carigan, and Doug Harvey, who contributed one a piece. Cumberland forced the Stallions goalie Cole Skinner to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. The Grads were ineffective while on the power play, as they were held to one goal off of 10 man advantages. Cumberland was helped by Mark Golberg, who finished with one goal. Golberg scored 12:59 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Riley Hennigar picked up the assist. Cumberland also got a goal from Martin Frechette as well. More assists for Cumberland came via David Bennett, Tyler Pancel, and Travis Douglas, who each chipped in one. Skinner recorded 32 saves for Kanata. The Stallions incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Reilly Turner made 24 saves for the Grads on 28 shots. Cumberland incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
