Kemptville falls to Smiths Falls in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

The Smiths Falls Bears' Alek Deblois scored 1:48 into overtime to beat the Kemptville 73s, 6-5 (OT).

Smiths Falls came back from a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Bears trailed 3-0 after a goal by Kemptville's Jonathon Masters at 12:56 in the first period. Smiths Falls knotted things up at 5-5 on a goal by Stefano Momesso at 19:48 in the third period.

The 73s' power play was ineffective against the Bears' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Smiths Falls forced Kemptville goalie Jacob Tugnutt to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. The Bears outdid their season average for goals scored. Smiths Falls averages 3.6 goals per game.

Smiths Falls also got a goal from Ben Beasley as well. More assists for Smiths Falls came via Victor Beaulac, who had three, Domenic Camastra, Daniele Disipio, and Neil Doef, who each chipped in one, and Brett Costello and Nic Marchand, who contributed two a piece.

The 73s put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Bears to score on any of their eight power plays.

Kemptville was led by Dean Galasso, who finished with one goal and three assists. Galasso scored 8:46 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Kemptville. Dylan Giberson assisted on the tally. Kemptville additionally got points from C Quinn, who also registered one goal and one assist and Giberson, who also had one goal and one assist. Cody Hendsbee also scored for Kemptville. In addition, Kemptville received assists from Matt Martin, Ben St Marseille, Jonathan Cyr, and Brandon Cole, who each chipped in one.

Michael Pinios took the win and made 22 saves before being replaced by Nicholas Hodgins who made two saves. Smiths Falls incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Tugnutt recorded 27 saves for the 73s. Kemptville incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
