Cumberland falls to Ottawa in overtime, 5-4 (OT)Navan Memorial Centre Fri, Sep 20, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Ottawa Senators' Zac Tierney scored 2:57 into overtime to beat the Cumberland Grads, 5-4 (OT). Shawn Lynch had one goal and three assists to lead Ottawa. Lynch scored on the power play 4:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Ottawa. The Senators had gotten the advantage when Cumberland's Riley Hennigar was sent off for interference. Deric Boudreau picked up the assist. Ottawa kept the Grads' goalie busy throughout the game, and Reilly Turner made 43 saves on 48 shots. Ottawa also got points from Ryan Collins, who also registered two goals and one assist. Chris King also scored for Ottawa. More assists for Ottawa came via Eric Clitsome and Hunter Racine, who each chipped in one. Cumberland forced the Senators' goaltenders to work without much rest, getting 32 shots and forcing 28 saves. Ian Andriano made 22 stops and Alexandre Savard-Belanger made six. The Grads were helped by Brett Faber, who grabbed one goal. Faber scored 12:29 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Brandon Grillo assisted on the tally. Cumberland also got a goal from Colin Kruse as well. In addition, Cumberland received assists from David Bennett, who had three and Tielen Celentano, Dylan McDonald, Matthew Dupont, and Mark Golberg, who contributed one a piece. Ottawa incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Cumberland incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
