Cornwall falls to Carleton Place in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Carleton Place Canadians pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Cornwall Colts on a clutch goal by Luke Edwards.

Carleton Place came back from a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Canadians fell behind 4-1 after a goal by Cornwall's Antonio Roumeliotis at 3:31 in the third period. Carleton Place knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Stephen Bayliss at 11:33 in the third period.

Bayliss was all over the ice for the Canadians, as he tallied two goals in the win.

Carleton Place's offense rang up 32 shots on the Colts' net.

Carleton Place also got points from Edwards, who also had one goal and one assist. Vinny Post also scored for Carleton Place. More assists for Carleton Place came via Elias Ghantous, Jim Roll, Tyson Stewart, Andy Sturtz, Anthony McVeigh, Kelly Summers, and Evan Peterson, who contributed one a piece.

Cornwall's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Colts are averaging 2.3 goals against for the season.

Cornwall was helped by Sean King, who grabbed one goal. King scored on the power play 7:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cornwall. The Colts had gained a power play chance when Devin Campbell was whistled for interference. Chase Pearson provided the assist. Cornwall additionally got points from Roumeliotis, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Kevin Hope, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Cornwall also got a goal from Billy Ulrick as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Tanner Spink, Benjamin Poirier (AP), Joseph Menniti, and Pierre Ouellette, who each chipped in one.

The Canadians' starting goalie, Justin Laforest, made 13 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Cory Simic, who stopped two shots. Carleton Place incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Jordan Piccolino rejected 27 shots on goal for Cornwall. The Colts incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
