The Kemptville 73s tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Hawkesbury Hawks would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3. Hawkesbury made the score 3-1 on a goal by Daniel Brickley at 2:10 in the third period, and Kemptville got as close as 3-2 when Jesse Blais scored 2:27 into the third period. The Hawks' penalty kill excelled, as Hawkesbury gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 2:58 into the third period. Three fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Hawks stifled the 73s' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Hawkesbury forced Kemptville goalie Jacob Tugnutt to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. The Hawks were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 27 penalty minutes. Hawkesbury was helped by Michael Guerrera, who had one goal. Guerrera scored on the power play 9:06 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Hawkesbury. A slashing penalty on Hayden Hanson had put the Hawks on the power play. David Higgs picked up the assist. Hawkesbury also got points from Trent Durocher, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Hawkesbury also got a goal from Joshua Renaud as well. More assists for Hawkesbury came via Yanik Laliberte, who had three and Mike Nairn and Stavros Soilis, who each chipped in one. The 73s were relatively well disciplined in the game, receiving only nine minors and one major for 23 minutes in penalty time. Kemptville ended up below its season average of 30.0 penalty minutes per game. The 73s' offense rang up 50 shots on Hawkesbury's net. Kemptville additionally got points from C Quinn, who also registered one goal and one assist. Dean Galasso also scored for Kemptville. In addition, Kemptville received assists from Brandon Seatter, who had one and Alex Row, who had two. Matthew Jenkins made 47 saves for the Hawks on 50 shots. Hawkesbury registered three goals on seven power play opportunities. For the Hawks, Andrew Reis was ejected from the game. Tugnutt recorded 32 saves for Kemptville. The 73s ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Row was ejected from the game.
