Gloucester uses shootout to best Kanata, 5-4 (2-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Gloucester Rangers defeated the Kanata Stallions in a shootout 5-4 (2-0 SO).

The two teams needed four turns to complete the shootout. Gloucester also got a shootout goal from Matt Rosebrook.

The Rangers overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Gloucester fell behind 4-3 after a goal by Kanata's Jason Brochu at 5:22 in the third period. The Rangers tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Rosebrook at 8:27 in the third period.

Rosebrook had two goals to lead Gloucester to victory.

The Rangers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Gloucester kept the Stallions' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brayden St-Germain made 26 saves on 31 shots. The Rangers got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Maximian Veronneau also scored for Gloucester. More assists for Gloucester came via Andrew Rossy, who had one and Nicholas Brazeau and Luc Deschamps, who contributed two a piece.

Kanata was led by Braedan Moffatt, who tallied one goal and one assist. Moffatt scored 3:05 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Kanata. Kevin Groulx assisted on the tally. Kanata additionally got points from Derian Plouffe, who also registered one goal and one assist. Kanata also got a goal from Connor Cobbold as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kanata were Ian Johnson, Nic LaBurn, and Alex Stothart, who each chipped in one.

Danick Boisvert recorded 20 saves for Gloucester. The Rangers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Stallions incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
