Team ODHA blows out Team GTHL Royal, 6-2

Team ODHA had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over Team GTHL Royal.

Team ODHA got the win on the strength of a great game by Ian Johnston, who had two goals and one assist. Johnston scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 7:01 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Team ODHA. A cross checking penalty on Mitchell Marner had put Team ODHA on the power play. Ben Fanjoy picked up the assist. Johnston's next tally on the power play made the score 6-2 Team ODHA with 13:28 left in the third period. Simon Besner assisted on the tally.

Team ODHA forced Team GTHL Royal's goalies to work without much rest, totaling 43 shots and forcing 37 saves. Jeremy Helvig made 25 stops and Dalton Ewing made 12. Team ODHA found itself short handed often, totaling 24 penalty minutes and allowing three power plays.

Team ODHA additionally got points from Brandon Zullo, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Ethan MacLean, who also registered one goal and one assist. Team ODHA also got a goal from Zach Senyshyn as well. Other players who recorded assists for Team ODHA were Ethan Wensink, who had one and Kristopher Myllari, who had two.

Team GTHL Royal struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 26 penalty minutes for four opposing power plays.

Team GTHL Royal was helped by Eric Eremita, who finished with one goal. Eremita scored on the power play 15:11 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Team ODHA. Team GTHL Royal earned a power play opportunity when Myllari was put in the box for tripping. Jacob Hayhurst picked up the assist. Adrian Carbonara also scored for Team GTHL Royal. More assists for Team GTHL Royal came via Jordan MacLean and Noah Jordan, who contributed one a piece.

Team ODHA's Bo Taylor stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced.
