Fairbanks holds on for 4-3 win against WenatcheeTown Toyota Center Sat, Apr 27, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Wenatchee Wild tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Fairbanks Ice Dogs would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3. A goal by Lawrence Cornellier put Fairbanks up 4-1 in the third period, but Wenatchee pulled to within one on Jacob Barber's tally 19:13 into the third period. With the win, the Ice Dogs evened the series at 1-1 in the best of five showdown. Cornellier had two goals and one assist to lead Fairbanks. Cornellier scored the first of his two goals at 18:22 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Fairbanks. Cornellier's next tally made the score Fairbanks with 16:34 left in the third period. Garret Clemment picked up the assist. The Ice Dogs did not rack up many penalties in the contest, registering a minimal one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Taylor Munson also scored for Fairbanks. In addition, Fairbanks received assists from Devin Loe, who had one. The Wild kept Fairbanks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Steve Perry made 34 saves on 37 shots. Wenatchee was helped by Tyler Bruneteau, who tallied one goal. Bruneteau scored 15:49 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Fairbanks. Chris Jones assisted on the tally. Wenatchee also got a goal from Jono Davis as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wenatchee were Joshua Hartley and Max McHugh, who each chipped in one. The Ice Dogs registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Robert Nichols rejected 26 shots on goal for the Wild. Wenatchee incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors.
