Huge game by Kovar boosts Bismarck over Austin, 5-2

Behind a great game by Daniel Kovar, who had two goals and two assists, the Bismarck Bobcats defeated the Austin Bruins, 5-2.

Kovar scored at 14:00 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Bismarck and again while short handed 17:41 into the third to make the score 4-2 Bismarck.

With the win, Bismarck evened the series at 1-1 in the best of five showdown.

The Bobcats made Austin's netminders to work in net, taking 31 shots and forcing 26 saves. Nicholas Lehr made 19 stops and Jason Pawloski made seven. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Bismarck also got points from Matt Pohlkamp, who also had one goal and two assists and Bob Kinne, who also registered one goal and one assist. Bismarck also got a goal from Adam Knochenmus as well. More assists for Bismarck came via Levi Blom, who had two and Joe Giordano, Matt Anders, and Patrick Moore, who each chipped in one.

The Bruins were helped by Ladislav Zikmund, who racked up one goal. Zikmund scored 1:37 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Bismarck. Brandon Wahlin provided the assist. Cody Dixon also scored for Austin. In addition, Austin received assists from AJ Reid, Riley Colvard, and Grant Eichstadt, who contributed one a piece.

Bismarck's Aaron Nelson stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Bobcats incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Austin incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
