Team East blows out Team California, 5-1

Team East had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over Team California.

Team East was sparked by Christopher Wuestneck, who tallied one goal and one assist. Wuestneck scored 9:39 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Team East. Nikita Samoylov assisted on the tally.

Team East put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Team California to score on any of its three power plays.

Team East also got points from Samoylov, who also registered one goal and one assist. Evan Okeley also scored for Team East. More assists for Team East came via Tristan Ramage, Alex Sauer, and Trevor Recktenwald, who contributed one a piece and Ryan Price and Gregory Johnson, who each chipped in two.

Team California excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Team California did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Team California puts an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game.

Team California was led by Troy Loggins, who scored the team's only goal. Loggins scored 6:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Team California. Marcus Mollica picked up the assist.

Team East's starting goalie, Joseph Licata, made 12 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Nick Bretzger, who stopped nine shots. Team East incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Danny Kowalski took the loss and made 12 saves before being replaced by Cole Semchak who made 11 saves. Team California incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
