Amarillo rolls over Texas, 4-1

The Amarillo Bulls were firing on all cylinders against the Texas Tornado, and when the final buzzer sounded Bulls emerged with a 4-1 win.

The win gave Amarillo a 1-0 lead in the best of five series.

The Bulls' Paul Berrafato was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 25 saves and let only one puck past him. Berrafato certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.41 entering the contest.

Amarillo was led by TJ Sherman, who grabbed one goal. Sherman scored 19:53 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Amarillo. Tyler Deresky assisted on the tally.

The Bulls kept Texas' goalie busy throughout the game, and Hunter Leisner made 50 saves on 54 shots.

Amarillo also got a goal from Brady Ferguson as well. In addition, Amarillo received assists from Clint Carlisle, who had two and John Rey, Tyler Rostenkowski, TJ Sarcona, Omar Mullan, and Mike Davis, who each chipped in one.

The Tornado relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Andrew Mayer, Brandon Hawkins and Scott Conway took 14 of the team's 26 shots.

Other players who recorded assists for Texas were Michael Hoy and Justin Greenberg, who contributed one a piece.

Amarillo totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Texas totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play.
