Jamestown rides Ballmer to victory over Kalamazoo, 3-1

Joe Ballmer stood on his head and made 29 saves to lead the Jamestown Ironmen to a 3-1 victory over the Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings.

After the loss made the series score 2-0 in the best of five series, Kalamazoo faces elimination next time out.

Jamestown pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 32 penalty minutes.

The Ironmen were sparked by Ryan Doucet, who tallied one goal. Doucet scored on the power play 5:51 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Jamestown. Jamestown earned a power play opportunity when Mike Fazio was put in the box for tripping. Nicholas Sierra picked up the assist.

The Ironmen stifled the Jr. K-Wings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Jamestown also got points from Sierra, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Jamestown also got a goal from Victor Johansson as well. More assists for Jamestown came via Aaron Scheppelman, Tyler Dunagan, Dylan Zink, Daniel Cesarz, and Elliot Tisdale, who each chipped in one.

Kalamazoo was led by Danny Hamburg, who scored the team's only goal. Hamburg scored 7:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kalamazoo. Christian George assisted on the tally.

Jamestown registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Marcus Due-Boje made 26 saves for the Jr. K-Wings on 29 shots. Kalamazoo incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
