Due-Boje leads Kalamazoo to shutout victory over SpringfieldBlue Rink Sat, Apr 06, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Marcus Due-Boje made 27 saves to complete the shutout and led the Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings to a 6-0 win against the Springfield Jr. Blues. The win by Kalamazoo clinched the best of three series at 2-0. The Jr. K-Wings were sparked by Kody Polin, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Polin scored 50 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kalamazoo. Robbie Payne assisted on the tally. Kalamazoo forced Jr. Blues' goalies to work without much rest, ripping 35 shots and forcing 29 saves. Matt Leon made seven stops and Ryan Kellenberger made 22. The Jr. K-Wings put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Springfield to score on any of its four power plays. Kalamazoo also got points from Payne, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Luc Boby, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Kalamazoo also had goals scored by Mike Fazio, who had one and Mac McDonnell, who had two. In addition, Kalamazoo received assists from Sam Johnson, Brendan Vetter, Kyle Gattelaro, Christian George, and Brett Beauvais, who contributed one a piece and Taylor Burden and Trevor Boyd, who each chipped in two. The Jr. Blues were led by Davis Dekorte, who took six shots. Kalamazoo incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Springfield incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
