Amarillo outlasts Corpus Christi, 5-3

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Amarillo Bulls escaped with a 5-3 victory over the Corpus Christi IceRays.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Hampus Gustafsson at 9:09 of the third period.

The win by Amarillo clinched the best of five series at 3-1.

The Bulls were led by Gustafsson, who grabbed one goal.

Amarillo forced Corpus Christi's goaltenders to work without much rest, finishing with 42 shots and forcing 37 saves. Hayden Stewart made 37 stops and Ben Myers made zero.

Amarillo also got points from Tyler Deresky, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Amarillo also got a goal from John Rey as well. More assists for Amarillo came via Omar Mullan, who had two and Geoff Fortman and Ryan Cole, who each chipped in one.

The IceRays made the Bulls' goalies to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots and forcing 30 saves. Paul Berrafato made 30 stops and Collin Delia made zero.

Corpus Christi was helped by Emil Romig, who registered one goal. Romig scored 13:04 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Corpus Christi. Grant Hutton assisted on the tally. Brandon Smith also scored for Corpus Christi. In addition, Corpus Christi received assists from AJ Jarosz, Perry DArrisso, Lucas McDiarmid, Beau Walker, and Nick Monfils, who contributed one a piece.

Amarillo incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The IceRays totaled 99 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Team's Caleb OBrien, Michael Economos, and Andrew Paras were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
