Huntsville squeaks by Louisiana, 5-3

The Huntsville Havoc and the Louisiana IceGators were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Huntsville made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Nick Lazorko at 17:21 of the third period.

After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, Louisiana faces elimination next time out.

Aaron McGill was all over the ice for the Havoc, as he grabbed two goals in the win. McGill found the back of the net 13:01 into the first period to make the score 2-2 and again while 10:01 into the third to make the score 3-3.

Huntsville also got points from Lazorko, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Corey Fulton, who also registered one goal and one assist. Mike Gurtler also scored for Huntsville. More assists for Huntsville came via Stuart Stefan, Sam Cannata, and Ian Boots, who contributed one a piece and Justin Fox and Justin Cseter, who each chipped in two.

The IceGators were helped by Shawn McNeil, who had three goals. Other players who recorded assists for Louisiana were Matt Miller, who had three and Robert Short, Kirk Byczynski, and Troy Ofukany, who contributed one a piece.

Jesse Kallechy rejected 19 shots on goal for Huntsville. The Havoc incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Louisiana's Breton Lindoff stopped 22 shots out of the 26 that he faced. The IceGators incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
