McDougall stymies St. Catharines, Welland wins 3-1

The Welland Jr. Canadians relied on the sparkling performance of Chris McDougall in net to grab a 3-1 win against the St. Catharines Falcons.

After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, St. Catharines faces elimination next time out.

Welland was led by Drake Lynds, who registered one goal. Lynds scored 49 seconds into the third period to make the score 2-1 Welland. Matthew Mateljan picked up the assist.

The Jr. Canadians' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three St. Catharines power plays.

Welland also got a goal from Brooker Muir as well. Other players who recorded assists for Welland were Riley Brooks and Chris Brown, who contributed one a piece.

Welland was unable to stop the Falcons from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Catharines eventually piled up 47 shots on goal.

The Falcons were led by Brad Col, who scored the team's only goal. Col scored 1:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Catharines. Tyler Jackson provided the assist.

Chris McDougall made 46 saves for the Jr. Canadians on 47 shots. Welland incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Stormer Santana rejected 26 shots on goal for St. Catharines. The Falcons incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
