The Welland Jr. Canadians pulled out a 2-1 (OT) overtime victory over the St. Catharines Falcons on a clutch goal by Braden Curry. The win moved Welland to down 2-1 in the best of seven series. St. Catharines was stymied by the Jr. Canadians netminder Chris McDougall, who stopped 57 shots during the victory. McDougall certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.64 entering the contest. Welland was paced by Curry, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Curry scored 17:56 into overtime to make the score 2-1 Welland. Seebach M assisted on the tally. The Falcons were unable to stop the Jr. Canadians from sending pucks towards the net, and Welland eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. Adam Mataya also scored for Welland. In addition, Welland received assists from Chris Langdon, who had one. St. Catharines' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Welland power plays. The Falcons' offense rang up 58 shots on the Jr. Canadians' net. St. Catharines was led by Jimmy Sheehan, who scored the team's only goal. Sheehan scored 19:02 into the third period to make the score 1-0 St. Catharines. Kyle Woodhouse provided the assist. Welland incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. For the Jr. Canadians, Matthew Mateljan was ejected from the game. Jonathon D Ilario rejected 34 shots on goal for the Falcons. St. Catharines incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
