The North York Rangers gutted out a close 3-2 win against the St. Michaels Buzzers. North York gained the winning advantage on a goal by John Carpino 8:58 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer. The win gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. North York was led by Carpino, who finished with one goal and one assist. The Rangers kept St. Michaels' goalie busy throughout the game, and Adrian Ignagni made 28 saves on 31 shots. North York also got points from Corey Kalk, who also registered one goal and one assist. Liam Kerins also scored for North York. In addition, North York received assists from Valadao Adam, who had one. The Buzzers did not rack up many penalties in the contest, finishing with only one minor for two minutes in penalty time. St. Michaels was helped by Jake Evans, who grabbed one goal. Evans scored 19:45 into the first period to make the score 2-1 North York. Troy Josephs assisted on the tally. St. Michaels also got a goal from Michael Neville as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Michaels were Matt Buckles and Patrick McCarron, who each chipped in one. Jason Pucciarelli made 28 saves for North York on 30 shots. The Rangers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. North York ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kalk was ejected from the game. The Buzzers registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
