Thorold survives St. Catharines comeback, wins 6-5Thorold Community Arena Thu, Mar 21, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The St. Catharines Falcons tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Thorold Blackhawks held on for a 6-5 victory. A goal by Dan Chudobiak put Thorold up 6-4 in the third period, but St. Catharines pulled to within one on Yanni Rallis's tally 11:37 into the third period. With the win, the Blackhawks evened the series at 2-2 in the best of seven showdown. Thorold got the win with help from a great game by Tanner Hildbrant, who had two goals and one assist. Hildbrant scored the first of his two goals at 16:48 into the first period to make the score 2-1 St. Catharines. Vince Dunn assisted on the tally. Hildbrant's next tally made the score 4-4 with 14:41 left in the third period. Joel Forestell provided the assist. The defensemen of the Blackhawks were also effective in the Falcons' zone, and came away with two goals. Thorold also got points from Chudobiak, who also had one goal and one assist. Thorold also got a goal from Mackenzie Mac Avoy as well. Other players who recorded assists for Thorold were Matthew Hoszko, who had two and Owen Sobchak and Adrian Copeland, who each chipped in one. St. Catharines' offense rang up 48 shots on Thorold's net. St. Catharines additionally got points from Greg Jambrosich, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for St. Catharines included Kyle Woodhouse, who had one and Mitch Bennett, who had two. More assists for St. Catharines came via Jordan Bailey, who had two and Tyler Jackson, Aaron Taylor, Spencer DeWolfe, Julian Luciani, and Riley Dunda, who contributed one a piece. Vinny Merante recorded 43 saves for the Blackhawks. Thorold incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Falcons' Stormer Santana stopped 19 shots out of the 25 that he faced. St. Catharines incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors and had no power play opportunities.
