Carpino leads North York over Buffalo, 5-1

Behind a great game by John Carpino, who had two goals and two assists, the North York Rangers defeated the Buffalo Jr. Sabres, 5-1.

Carpino found the back of the net 2:44 into the second period to make the score 2-0 North York and again while 16:30 into the second to make the score 4-1 North York.

The win gave North York a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Rangers made Jr. Sabres' goalies to work without much rest, racking up 31 shots and forcing 26 saves. Parker Gahagen made 21 stops and Bobby Bloomfield made five.

North York additionally got points from Corey Kalk, who also registered one goal and one assist. North York also got a goal from Lapierre Charles as well. More assists for North York came via Valadao Adam, who had two and Patrick Piacentini, Ryan Kinsella, and Scott Maguire, who each chipped in one.

Buffalo was led by Tyler Gjurich, who scored the team's only goal. Gjurich scored on the power play 6:29 into the second period to make the score 2-1 North York. The Jr. Sabres had taken the advantage when North York's Dana Tenenbaum got sent off for tripping. Dylan Howatt picked up the assist.

Jason Pucciarelli recorded 16 saves for the Rangers. North York incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Buffalo incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
