Stratford holds on for 3-2 win against CaledoniaHaldimand Center Wed, Mar 20, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Stratford Cullitons survived a determined comeback attempt by the Caledonia Corvairs on the way to a 3-2 win. A goal by Dylan Wettlaufer put Stratford up 3-1 in the second period, but Caledonia pulled to within one on Tyler Norrie's tally 15:45 into the third period. After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, the Corvairs face elimination next time out. The Cullitons' penalty kill excelled, as Stratford gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays. The Cullitons stifled Caledonia's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Stratford also got points from Trevor Sauder, who also had one goal and one assist. Jonathan Langford also scored for Stratford. Other players who recorded assists for Stratford were Mitch Vandergunst, who had one and Ryker Killins, who had three. The Corvairs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Caledonia also got a goal from Brier Jonathan as well. More assists for Caledonia came via Matthew Henderson, Mitch Brown, Matt Quilty, and Marc Silvestri, who contributed one a piece. Stratford's Nick Caldwell stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Cullitons incurred 34 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Justis Husak recorded 23 saves for Caledonia. The Corvairs incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
