Huge game by O Brien boosts Stratford over Caledonia, 6-2

Shane O Brien was all over the ice for the Stratford Cullitons, as he tallied one goal and two assists in Stratford's 6-2 win over the Caledonia Corvairs.

O Brien beat Marcus DelConte with a shot 8:59 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Stratford. Ryan Watson picked up the assist. O Brien dished an assist on Trevor Sauder's goal that made the score 2-0 Stratford at 6:19 into the second period. He added another helper on Mitch Brooks's goal that made the score 5-1 Stratford at 16:49 into the second period.

The win gave the Cullitons a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Stratford's penalty kill excelled, as the Cullitons gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

Stratford stifled Caledonia's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Stratford also got points from Watson, who also registered one goal and one assist, Brooks, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Sauder, who also had one goal and one assist. Dylan Wettlaufer also scored for Stratford. Other players who recorded assists for Stratford were Ryker Killins, who had two and Jake Pleon, Trevor MacDonald, Mike Pleon, and Jake Ryan, who contributed one a piece.

The Corvairs forced the Cullitons goalie Nick Caldwell to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Nick Caldwell made 39 saves for Stratford on 41 shots. The Cullitons incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. Justis Husak made 14 saves before being replaced by DelConte, who took the loss and made 10 saves. Caledonia incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors.
