O Brien's hat trick boosts Stratford over Caledonia, 6-4

The Caledonia Corvairs could not stop the Stratford Cullitons' Shane O Brien, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-4 win.

O Brien notched his first tally 13:51 into the first period. He then added goals at 54 seconds into the second and at 8:18 into the second.

The win gave Stratford a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Cullitons cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring two goals on three chances.

Stratford also got points from Jared Culliton, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Josh Miller also scored for Stratford. In addition, Stratford received assists from Brett Heaman, who had one, Liam Maaskant, who had two, and Mitch Brooks, who had three.

Stratford was unable to stop Caledonia from sending pucks towards the net, and the Corvairs eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

Caledonia was led by Marc Silvestri, who had two goals. Silvestri scored the first of his two goals at 10:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Caledonia. Spencer Gourlay picked up the assist. Silvestri's next tally made the score 4-2 Stratford with 11:09 left in the second period. The Corvairs had taken the advantage when the Cullitons' Maaskant got sent off for holding. Gourlay provided the assist. Caledonia additionally got points from Tyler Norrie, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Caledonia also got a goal from Matt Quilty as well. Other players who recorded assists for Caledonia were Connor Murphy and Brandon Montour, who contributed one a piece.

Nick Caldwell recorded 36 saves for Stratford. The Cullitons ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Stratford ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jordan Currie was ejected from the game. Justis Husak made 10 saves before being replaced by Marcus DelConte, who took the loss and made 11 saves. Caledonia incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
