Williams stymies Cambridge, Kitchener wins 3-1

The Kitchener Dutchmen relied on the sparkling performance of Marc Williams in net to grab a 3-1 win against the Cambridge Winter Hawks.

Kitchener evened the best of seven series at 3-3 and forced a deciding game seven.

The Dutchmen were led by Ryo Kobayashi, who finished with one goal. Kobayashi scored 11:37 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Kitchener. Brett Clampitt assisted on the tally.

Kitchener additionally got points from Clampitt, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Dylan Bursey also scored for Kitchener. In addition, Kitchener received assists from Keegan Calder and Matt Pappineau, who contributed one a piece.

Cambridge excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Kitchener was unable to stop the Winter Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Cambridge eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

The Winter Hawks were led by Chris Taylor, who scored the team's only goal. Taylor scored 19:09 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Trevor Hache picked up the assist.

Williams recorded 32 saves for the Dutchmen. Kitchener incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Cambridge's Lucas Machalski stopped 21 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Winter Hawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
