Kitchener rides Williams to victory over Cambridge, 2-1Kinsmen Arena Thu, Mar 14, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Kitchener Dutchmen relied on the sparkling performance of Marc Williams in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Cambridge Winter Hawks. The win gave Kitchener a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series. The Dutchmen were sparked by Jordan Delaurier, who had one goal. Delaurier scored on the power play 16:16 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Kitchener. Kitchener earned a power play opportunity when Dylan Decker was put in the box for checking from behind. Ryo Kobayashi picked up the assist. Kitchener also got a goal from Keli Grant as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Logan Schmidt (APM), who had one. Cambridge was led by Tyler Snyder, who scored the team's only goal. Snyder scored 2:21 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Andrew Coupland assisted on the tally. Marc Williams made 29 saves for the Dutchmen on 30 shots. Kitchener totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. The Dutchmen ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Keegan Calder was ejected from the game. The Winter Hawks' Lucas Machalski stopped 24 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Cambridge incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and had no power play opportunities. Team's Kyle Locke and Decker were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
