The London Nationals took home the 6-2 victory over the Leamington Flyers. The win gave London a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. The Nationals got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. London was helped by Paul Hopkins, who had one goal. Hopkins scored 16:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 London. Ryan Tuffin picked up the assist. London additionally got points from Ryan Wells, who also registered one goal and one assist. Shawn Crowley also scored for London. Other players who recorded assists for London were Mark Gazdic, Jeff Bauer, and Derek Todosichuk, who each chipped in two. Leamington did not rack up many penalties in the contest, registering only one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Flyers were helped by Kyle Shaw, who racked up one goal and one assist. Shaw scored on the power play 35 seconds into the third period to make the score 4-2 London. Mitchell Amante assisted on the tally. Leamington also got a goal from Myles Doan as well. Taylor Edwards made 24 saves for the Nationals on 26 shots. London incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Matt Mancina took the loss and made 10 saves before being replaced by Austyn Roudebush who made six saves. Leamington registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
