Huge game by Palazzolo boosts Chatham over Strathroy, 6-2Chatham Memorial Arena Thu, Mar 21, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Eric Palazzolo had two goals and two assists to lead the Chatham Maroons to a 6-2 victory over the Strathroy Rockets. Palazzolo found the back of the net 17:07 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Chatham and again while 7:39 into the second to make the score 4-1 Chatham.After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, Strathroy faces elimination next time out. Chatham forced the Rockets' goalies to work without much rest, getting 56 shots and forcing 50 saves. Dalen Kuchmey made 29 stops and Gordie Weiss made 21. Chatham additionally got points from Trevor Richardson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Brennan Feasey, who also registered one goal and one assist. Chatham also got a goal from Sean Myers as well. In addition, Chatham received assists from Michael Verboom, who had two, Blake Blondeel, who had four, and Ben Pataki and Evan Mascaro, who contributed one a piece. Strathroy's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Chatham power plays. The Maroons were unable to stop the Rockets from sending pucks towards the net, and Strathroy eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. The Rockets were led by Stuart King, who racked up one goal. King scored on the power play 13:25 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Chatham. Strathroy earned a power play opportunity when Thomas Eady was put in the box for slashing. Mike Mandarelli assisted on the tally. Blake O`Neill also scored for Strathroy. Chatham's Darien Ekblad stopped 33 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Maroons incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Rockets incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
