Chatham squeaks by Strathroy, 3-2

The Chatham Maroons and the Strathroy Rockets were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Chatham made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

The Maroons gained the winning advantage on a goal by Sean Myers 10:31 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

With the win, Chatham evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

The Maroons were led by Myers, who tallied one goal and one assist.

Chatham's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Strathroy power plays. The Maroons kept Strathroy's goalie busy throughout the game, and Dalen Kuchmey made 33 saves on 36 shots.

Steven Szekesy also scored for Chatham. Other players who recorded assists for Chatham were Trevor Richardson, Ben Pataki, Brayden Hopkins, Eric Palazzolo, and Thomas Eady, who each chipped in one.

Chatham was unable to stop the Rockets from sending pucks towards the net, and Strathroy eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

The Rockets were helped by Nick Boyer, who had one goal. Boyer scored 9:59 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Matthew Watson provided the assist. Strathroy also got a goal from Mike Mandarelli as well. In addition, Strathroy received assists from Blake O`Neill, Stuart King, and Adam Vandersluis, who contributed one a piece.

The Maroons' Darien Ekblad stopped 36 shots out of the 38 that he faced. Chatham incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Strathroy incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
