Yeo's hat trick boosts Kingston over Cobourg, 6-2

A hat trick by Graham Yeo was the highlight in Voyageurs' 6-2 win against the Cobourg Cougars.

Yeo notched his first tally 5:21 into the first period. He then added goals at 11:42 into the second and at 3:39 into the third.

The win gave the Kingston Voyageurs a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Kingston forced Cobourg's goaltenders to work between the pipes, getting 36 shots and forcing 30 saves. CJ Sharp made 27 stops and Evan Cormier APM made three. The Voyageurs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Cougars to score on any of their four power plays.

Kingston also got points from Alex Tonge, who also registered one goal and one assist and Brett Du Puy, who also had one goal and one assist. Kingston also got a goal from Brett Seney as well. In addition, Kingston received assists from David Quesnele, who had two and Josh Hicks, Kris Grant, Francesco Vilardi, Andrew Fullerton, Dylan Hutton, and Ludlow Harris, who each chipped in one.

Cobourg's offense rang up 34 shots on Kingston's net.

The Cougars were helped by Connor Armour, who registered one goal. Armour scored 1:44 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cobourg. Ryan OGrady assisted on the tally. Justin Danforth also scored for Cobourg. Other players who recorded assists for Cobourg were Matt Martin, Theo Lewis, and Corey Helliwell, who contributed one a piece.

Charlie Finn made 32 saves for the Voyageurs on 34 shots. Kingston incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Cobourg incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
