St. Louis rolls over Quad City, 9-2

The St. Louis Jr. Blues were firing on all cylinders against the Quad City Jr. Flames, and when the final buzzer sounded Jr. Blues emerged with a 9-2 win.

The win by St. Louis clinched the best of five series at 3-0.

Ryan Hogland was all over the ice for the Jr. Blues, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Hogland scored 9:27 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Louis. Trey Dodd picked up the assist.

Quad City's power play was ineffective against St. Louis' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Jr. Blues made the Jr. Flames' goaltenders to work between the pipes, launching 44 shots and forcing 35 saves. Robby Vukelich made 12 stops and Jake Leon made 23.

St. Louis also got points from Jeremy Edwards, who also racked up one goal and one assist. St. Louis also had goals scored by Mike Lozano, who had two and Victor Gortz, Sam Turner, Christian Argyros, Cody Guidorzi, and Lucas Stewart, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for St. Louis were Joey Luongo, Tommy Heinzman, Simon Koscielski, and Payne Alexander, who each chipped in one and Kyle Meeh and Kerry McGlynn, who contributed two a piece.

Quad City was helped by Jason Hoehn, who had one goal. Hoehn scored 11:30 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Easton Halbert provided the assist. Kevin Stone also scored for Quad City. More assists for Quad City came via Peter Coppola and Luke Dickinson, who each chipped in one.

Clint Steinmeyer rejected 20 shots on goal for St. Louis. The Jr. Blues totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 2-for-2 on the power play. The Jr. Flames ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Quad City ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Chad Frost was ejected from the game.
