GAME RECAP

Parda, Peoria blank Queen City, 3-0

Owens Rec Ctr    Sat, Mar 16, 2013

The Peoria Mustangs used a sparkling performance by Michael Parda to take down the Queen City Steam, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Peoria's 3-0 shutout victory.

After the loss made the series score 2-0 in the best of five series, Queen City faces elimination next time out.

The Steam's power play was ineffective against the Mustangs' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Peoria was paced by Connor Millard, who finished with one goal. Millard scored on the power play 3:37 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Peoria. The Mustangs had taken the advantage when Queen City's Chase Engdahl got sent off for high sticking. Alexander Turin assisted on the tally.

Peoria stifled the Steam's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Peoria also got a goal from Nikolas Sakellaropoulos as well. More assists for Peoria came via Cody Lichtenvoort, who had one.

The Mustangs' Parda stopped 29 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Peoria incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Alec Rounds recorded 20 saves for Queen City. The Steam incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
