The Toledo Cherokee almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks managed to pull out a 5-3 win in the end. Cleveland led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Jr. Lumberjacks' Nick Balavich's scored at 6:25 in the second period to put Cleveland up 3-0. After the loss made the series score 2-0 in the best of five series, Toledo faces elimination next time out. In a losing effort, the Cherokee were led by Andrew Benyo, who grabbed two goals. Benyo scored the first of his two goals at 17:23 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Cleveland. Brody Duncan provided the assist. Benyo's next tally made the score 3-3 with 14 seconds left in the second period. Duncan assisted on the tally. The Jr. Lumberjacks were led by Scott Cuthrell, who had one goal and one assist. Cuthrell scored 18:02 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Cleveland. Andrew Mitch picked up the assist. Cleveland forced Toledo goalie Nathan Miller to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Cleveland also got points from Balavich, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Cleveland also got a goal from Andrew Sprouse as well. In addition, Cleveland received assists from Mike Palasics, who had one and Cameron Dimmitt, who had two. Jordan Fogarty also scored for Toledo. Other players who recorded assists for Toledo were David Bogart, Jordan Prewitt, Connor Crowe, and Nicholas Brazeal, who contributed one a piece. Joseph Moza rejected 25 shots on goal for the Jr. Lumberjacks. Cleveland incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Miller recorded 26 saves for the Cherokee. Toledo incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
