Breck School holds on for 3-2 win against East Grand Forks

The East Grand Forks Green Wave tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Breck School Mustangs would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2.

Breck School made the score 3-0 on a goal by Thomas Lindstrom at 14:16 in the second period, and East Grand Forks got as close as 3-2 when Tommy Hajicek scored 8:51 into the third period.

In the losing effort, the Green Wave were led by Hajicek, who had two goals. Hajicek scored the first of his two goals at 1:25 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Breck School. Kolton Aubol assisted on the tally. Hajicek's next tally made the score Breck School with 11:09 left in the third period. Aubol provided the assist.

The Mustangs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Breck School was below its usual level of shot production, taking 17 shots compared to the 24.7 the Mustangs average.

Breck School was helped by Michael Orke, who racked up one goal. Orke scored 2:45 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Breck School. Ben Gleekel assisted on the tally. Breck School additionally got points from Gleekel, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Breck School received assists from Chase Ellingson, Jack OConnor, and Matt Colford, who contributed one a piece.

East Grand Forks' offense was clicking better than usual and put 28 shots on goal during the game, better than the 16.0 shots per game it averages.

Other players who recorded assists for East Grand Forks were Dixon Bowen, who had two.

Henry Johnson recorded 26 saves for the Mustangs. Breck School incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Green Wave's Tanner Lindstrom stopped 14 shots out of the 17 that he faced. East Grand Forks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
