Three Rivers falls to Flint in overtime, 2-1 (OT)Iceland Arena Fri, Mar 22, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Flint Jr. Generals' Austin Fletcher scored 11:16 into overtime to beat the Three Rivers Vengeance, 2-1 (OT). The win by Flint clinched the best of five series at 3-0. The Jr. Generals were led by goalie Anders Franke, who finished with 37 saves while allowing one goal. Franke certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.86 entering the contest. Flint was sparked by Fletcher, who finished with one goal. The Jr. Generals excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Flint forced Three Rivers goalie Tyler Stepke to work between the pipes, taking 50 shots. Jacob Howie also scored for Flint. Other players who recorded assists for Flint were Adrain Larsson, Nicholas Gnagni, and Zachery Hill, who each chipped in one. The Vengeance put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jr. Generals to score on any of their five power plays. Three Rivers' offense rang up 38 shots on Flint's net. The Vengeance were led by Tom Diffendal, who scored the team's only goal. Diffendal scored 12:30 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Three Rivers. The Jr. Generals incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Stepke rejected 48 shots on goal for Three Rivers. The Vengeance incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
