Three Rivers falls to Flint in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Flint Jr. Generals' Jacob Howie scored 2:36 into overtime to beat the Three Rivers Vengeance, 4-3 (OT).

The win gave Flint a 1-0 lead in the best of five series.

Nicholas Gnagni was all over the ice for the Jr. Generals, as he grabbed two goals in the win. Gnagni scored on the power play at 11:35 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Flint and again while on the power play 18:38 into the third to make the score 3-3.

Flint stifled Three Rivers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Jr. Generals forced the Vengeance goalie Tyler Stepke to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Flint also got points from Edward Osowski, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Flint came via Adrain Larsson, who had two and Austin Fletcher, Zachery Hill, and Andrew Lay, who each chipped in one.

Three Rivers kept Flint's goalie busy throughout the game, and Anders Franke made 34 saves on 37 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

The Vengeance were helped by Justin Von Spreecken, who had one goal. Von Spreecken scored 16:07 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Three Rivers. Alex Berardinelli assisted on the tally. Three Rivers additionally got points from Berardinelli, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Thomas Leistner also scored for Three Rivers. In addition, Three Rivers received assists from Nico Vecchio, who had two and Chase Leonelli and Ian Wood, who contributed one a piece.

The Jr. Generals incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Three Rivers' Stepke stopped 28 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Vengeance incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
