Florida Eels' comeback falls short, Atlanta Jr. Knights wins 4-3

Atlanta Jr. Knights came close to giving away a three-goal lead to Florida Eels, but did just enough to escape with a 4-3 victory.

Atlanta Jr. Knights led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Atlanta Jr. Knights' William Bray's scored short handed at 18:51 in the first period to put Atlanta Jr. Knights up 3-0.

The win gave Atlanta Jr. Knights a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Atlanta Jr. Knights kept Florida Eels' goalie busy throughout the game, and Hunter Fernandez made 48 saves on 52 shots.

Atlanta Jr. Knights was led by Jordan Simmonds, who tallied two goals. Simmonds scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 13:17 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Atlanta Jr. Knights. Atlanta Jr. Knights had taken the advantage when Florida Eels' Zachery Mudge got sent off for hit after whistle. Aaron Blaker picked up the assist. Simmonds' next tally on the power play made the score 2-0 Atlanta Jr. Knights with 2:54 left in the first period. Blaker assisted on the tally. Atlanta Jr. Knights also got a goal from Zachary Bakotic as well.

Atlanta Jr. Knights was unable to stop Florida Eels from sending pucks towards the net, and Florida Eels eventually piled up 49 shots on goal.

Florida Eels was led by Steven Prince, who finished with two goals. Prince scored the first of his two goals at 7:23 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Atlanta Jr. Knights. Mudge provided the assist. Prince's next tally made the score 3-2 Atlanta Jr. Knights with 10:15 left in the second period. Florida Eels had gained a power play chance when Jeremy Bost was whistled for too many men. Joey Colatarci picked up the assist. Fredrik Wink also scored for Florida Eels. Other players who recorded assists for Florida Eels were Trent McDougall, who had one.

Brandon Haase made 46 saves for Atlanta Jr. Knights on 49 shots. Atlanta Jr. Knights incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. Florida Eels incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
