The Ayr Centennials survived a determined comeback attempt by the Lambeth Lancers on the way to a 4-3 win. A goal by Brett Gibson put Ayr up 3-1 in the second period, but Lambeth pulled to within one on Justin Clark's tally 9:01 into the third period. The win by the Centennials clinched the best of seven series at 4-0. Ayr was led by Jordan Pettitt, who had one goal and one assist. Pettitt scored 19:04 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Ayr. Jordan Eby picked up the assist. The Centennials forced the Lancers goalie JP Trudell to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. Ayr also got a goal from Spencer Sweazy as well. Other players who recorded assists for Ayr were Adam Fisher, Nick Hirs, Alex Richard, Mike McKnight, and Alex Mutton, who contributed one a piece. Ayr was unable to stop Lambeth from sending pucks towards the net, and the Lancers eventually piled up 40 shots on goal. Lambeth additionally got points from Mike Golinowski, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Warren Hargraves also scored for Lambeth. More assists for Lambeth came via Brandon Robbins, who had two and Ryan Pennington, Nick North, and Conor Chilvers, who each chipped in one. Lee Doherty rejected 37 shots on goal for the Centennials. Ayr incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Lambeth's Trudell stopped 38 shots out of the 42 that he faced. The Lancers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. |
