Junior Bruins wins tough contest against New York Apple Core, 6-4

Junior Bruins and New York Apple Core were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Junior Bruins made the most of its opportunities and won, 6-4.

Junior Bruins gained the winning advantage on a goal by John Buchanan 6:23 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

The win gave Junior Bruins a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Junior Bruins stifled New York Apple Core's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Junior Bruins additionally got points from Ryan Azar, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Daniel Resop, who also registered one goal and one assist. Michael Centerbar also scored for Junior Bruins. More assists for Junior Bruins came via Tyler Kirby, who had two, Jake McKinnon, who had three, and Jonathan Panarelli, Devin Stoddard, Kyle Chumsae, and Dommichael Piccini, who each chipped in one.

Junior Bruins was unable to stop New York Apple Core from sending pucks towards the net, and New York Apple Core eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

New York Apple Core was led by Kieran Hurley, who finished with two goals. Hurley scored the first of his two goals at 7:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 New York Apple Core. Michael Buffoleno picked up the assist. Hurley's next tally made the score 2-2 with 17:03 left in the second period. Dillon Radin assisted on the tally. New York Apple Core also got a goal from Phil Laurelli as well. In addition, New York Apple Core received assists from Will Guido, Colton Schnall, and Thomas McGovern, who contributed one a piece.

Benjamin Gagnon recorded 30 saves for Junior Bruins. Junior Bruins incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Madison Martin made 23 saves for New York Apple Core on 28 shots. New York Apple Core incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
