Uxbridge falls to Lakefield in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Lakefield Chiefs pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Uxbridge Bruins on a clutch goal by Eric Oosting.

The win gave Lakefield a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Chiefs came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Lakefield fell behind 4-2 after a power play goal by Uxbridge's Justin Bean at 19:40 in the second period. The Chiefs knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Riley Campbell at 19:12 in the third period.

Lakefield was led by Oosting, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Oosting scored 12 seconds into overtime to make the score 5-4 Lakefield. Nathan Larson provided the assist.

The Chiefs' penalty kill was ineffective, and let in three goals to the Bruins' power play unit.

Lakefield additionally got points from Larson, who also registered one goal and one assist. Lakefield also got a goal from Gregory Jesse as well. More assists for Lakefield came via Travis Brault, who had three and Jordan Walsh and Eric Shewell, who contributed two a piece.

Uxbridge also got points from Joey Vocino, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Steve Doutsis also scored for Uxbridge. Other players who recorded assists for Uxbridge were Michael Spataro and Jarett Smith, who each chipped in one and Callum Lynch and Matthew Allen, who contributed two a piece.

Lakefield incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Chiefs, Connor Blair was ejected from the game. Uxbridge incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Bruins ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Keegan Cairns was ejected from the game.
