Huge game by McManus boosts St. Thomas Academy over East Grand Forks, 11-0Xcel Energy Center Fri, Mar 08, 2013
The St. Thomas Academy Cadets' Dan McManus had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 11-0 win over the East Grand Forks Green Wave. McManus' tallies came at 5:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Thomas Academy and 5:31 into the second to make the score 5-0 St. Thomas Academy.
The Cadets made Green Wave's goaltenders to work in net, taking 33 shots and forcing 22 saves. Tanner Lindstrom made 10 stops and Josh Weber made 12. St. Thomas Academy stifled East Grand Forks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Cadets' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in four goals. St. Thomas Academy additionally got points from Matt Perry, who also racked up two goals and three assists to lead the team in points. St. Thomas Academy also had goals scored by Tom Novak, who had one, Gunnar Regan, who had two, and Wyatt Schmidt, who had four. More assists for St. Thomas Academy came via Jack Stang, who had three, Jake Geiser, Peter Tufto, Henry Hart, Seamus Donohue, and Alex Johnson, who each chipped in one, and Jack Dougherty and Alec Broetzman, who contributed two a piece. The Green Wave's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three St. Thomas Academy power plays. East Grand Forks found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere 14 shots against St. Thomas Academy's defense. The Green Wave were led by Kolton Aubol, who took four shots. Conor Murphy made three saves before being replaced by David Zevnik, who took the win and made 11 saves. The Cadets incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. East Grand Forks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
