East Grand Forks holds on for 3-2 win against Rochester LourdesXcel Energy Center Wed, Mar 06, 2013
The East Grand Forks Green Wave survived a determined comeback attempt by the Rochester Lourdes Eagles on the way to a 3-2 win. East Grand Forks took a 3-0 lead during the second period, only to have Rochester Lourdes storm back on a Griffen Slightham goal 12:20 into the third period to pull to one goal down.
Kolton Aubol had two goals to lead East Grand Forks to victory. Aubol found the back of the net 8:51 into the first period to make the score 1-0 East Grand Forks and again while 12:58 into the first to make the score 2-0 East Grand Forks. The Green Wave's offense rang up 34 shots on the Eagles' net. East Grand Forks also got points from Tommy Hajicek, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for East Grand Forks were Dixon Bowen, Taylor Brierley, and Eddie Eades, who each chipped in one. East Grand Forks' defense shut down Rochester Lourdes' forwards for much of the game, and the Eagles got off only 13 shots during the contest. Rochester Lourdes did not rack up many penalties in the contest, tallying just one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Rochester Lourdes additionally got points from Alex Funk, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Rochester Lourdes received assists from Jason Samuelson, who had two. Tanner Lindstrom rejected 11 shots on goal for the Green Wave. East Grand Forks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Eagles' Jack Berkel stopped 31 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Rochester Lourdes registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
