Breck School rips Marshall, 6-1Xcel Energy Center Wed, Mar 06, 2013
The Breck School Mustangs were firing on all cylinders against the Marshall Tigers, and when the final buzzer sounded Mustangs emerged with a 6-1 win.
The Mustangs were led by Thomas Lindstrom, who grabbed one goal. Lindstrom scored 3:23 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Breck School. Breck School forced Tigers' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, totaling 42 shots and forcing 36 saves. Mason Campion made 36 stops and Adam Cavazos made zero. The Mustangs stifled Marshall's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Breck School also got points from Chase Ellingson, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Lucas McCormick, who also had one goal and one assist, and David Husband, who also registered one goal and one assist. Breck School also got a goal from Maxwell Schwartzman as well. In addition, Breck School received assists from Otto Haeg, Mark Sharp, Ben Gleekel, Tyler Lindstrom, and Parker Montgomery, who contributed one a piece. The Tigers did not rack up many penalties in the contest, racking up just one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Marshall relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Quinn Horvath, Levi Hedman and Alex Buysse took 10 of the team's 17 shots. The Tigers were led by Jeremiah Barker, who scored the team's only goal. Barker scored 3:13 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Breck School. Derek Rasmussen provided the assist. Henry Johnson made 16 saves for Breck School on 17 shots. The Mustangs incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors and had no power play opportunities. Marshall registered zero goals on three power play opportunities.
